This annual event has been host to many artists and creative genres. From the Maccabeats to Chef Chana Apfelbaum, the art takes many forms from Broadway productions to a weekend of Jewish music. This year’s event will be just as engaging as we welcome The Shul Band!!!
FROM KASHMIR TO KLEZMER
Born in the oldest standing synagogue in New York, THE SHUL BAND plays Jewish music with exuberant virtuosity. Rooted in Jewish folk music but drawing on the musical wellsprings of New York City and the whole wide world, the quintet and their musical friends aspire to transcend their sources and create compelling, moving music with every performance. From Klezmer to Kashmir, liturgical melodies to Israeli dances, THE SHUL BAND is equally prayerful and raucous, meditative and joyful.
THE SHUL BAND is:
Adam Feder – guitar and vocals
Ernesto Villalobos – violin
Seth Ginsberg – mandolin
Matt Snyder – clarinet
Dave Hertzberg – bass
Howard Freund – saxophones
THE SHUL BAND is the house band for the Shul of New York, a progressive Jewish congregation based on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. In addition to playing Jewish liturgical and devotional music twice a month at services, The Shul Band regularly performs concerts, private events, and parties in NYC and beyond.
Venues performed include: Carnegie Hall, The Angel Orensanz Center, (le) Poisson Rouge, Barbés Brooklyn, The Most Arts Center (London), Klezmer Hois (Krakow), The Museum of Natural History, Ellis Island, The Israeli Day Parade.
The program will begin at 6:30 pm. We will start with Havdalah followed by dinner and the concert. Reservations are limited so make your reservations today!
