Tamara Settbon is a rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary, originally from Paris, France (yes, she still drinks espresso like it’s a religion…). She’s passionate about learning and teaching Torah, especially when it sparks lively conversation and unexpected connections to the world we live in. Her favorite thing is getting people talking — whether about a tricky midrash, a line of poetry of Tehilim, or a book.

Tamara brings a love of music into the prayer spaces she helps create, often weaving song and melody. She especially treasures reading from the Torah using the Tunisian tropes passed down through her family — it’s her way of honoring tradition while keeping it vibrantly alive.

She has experience teaching at her home synagogues in Paris and Nice, including a monthly lecture series for on Judaism and Ecology as well as a Judaism 101 class for converts. In addition, she has experience teaching youth groups and has led services for children on Friday nights.
