We made it – the days are getting longer; the temperatures are getting warmer and the sun is shining.  It is finally SPRINGTIME – time to get our children back outside for some exercise and fresh air.  Here is a list of some of my favorite parks in and around Norwalk. I hope you get a chance to check them out…

Devon’s Place – Located in Matthews Park – 295 West Ave., Norwalk

Devon’s Place Playground has a nautical theme with many of the equipment being handicap accessible.  There is also a small SPLASH pad at the park.

Oyster Shell Park – 95 N Water St., Norwalk

Oyster Shell Park has a small playground for children to enjoy.  The park also has a wonderful path along the Norwalk River with some great views to enjoy.  There is also a disc golf course with nine baskets located close by.

Cherry Lawn Park – 120 Brookside Rd., Darien

Cherry Lawn Park is comprised of two playgrounds – one geared towards smaller/younger children (fenced in) and one meant for larger/older children.  There are also tennis courts at this park.  At this location, there is a pond for the children to explore as well as some walking trails in the woods.

Calf Pasture Beach – 99 Calf Pasture Beach Rd., Norwalk

Norwalk is very lucky to have a playground right at the beach.  It allows families to enjoy a day at the beach both playing in the Sound, building sandcastles, and enjoying the playground.  Even when it is too cold to be on the beach, you can still enjoy the playground.  There is also a splash pad located next to this playground.  During peak summer months, you will need to be a Norwalk resident to park here or pay an entrance fee.

Cranbury Park – 300 Grumman Ave., Norwalk

Cranbury Park is located at Gallaher Mansion.  It has a small playground to enjoy.  It also has ample walking trails to explore and an area for dogs to run.  The park also features an 18-hole disc golf course that winds in and out of the woods.  During peak summer months, you will need to be a Norwalk resident to park here or pay an entrance fee.

Veteran’s Park – 42 Seaview Ave., Norwalk

Veteran’s Park has a newly renovated playground for children to enjoy – but that’s not all.  There are fields for them to run on, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, and a walking trail/bicycle path right along the water.  During peak summer months, you will need to be a Norwalk resident to park here or pay an entrance fee.
