Danielle Ben-David’s Bulletin Column January – February 2026
Finding Light Together
As we begin a new year, we carry both hope and uncertainty. Life does not pause for a
calendar change, and the world often reminds us how fragile our sense of balance can be.
Jewish tradition teaches that even in times of doubt, connection, responsibility, and care
sustain us.
Over the past months, our community has shown up for one another—through learning,
awareness, and daily acts of care. Much of my work has been focused on building strong
relationships with SCN and the Norwalk Police Department, and planning and recruiting 4
in-person security and safety classes, which many of you have attended. Preparedness
and engagement are not about fear; they are about empowerment, presence, and shared
responsibility. Each act—offering a kind word, volunteering, or simply showing up—
strengthens the bonds that sustain us.
Joy and connection also sustain us. Our recent Beth Elles evening of jewelry making, sushi,
and wine brought women together in friendship, laughter, and shared celebration. Events
like this remind us that community is nurtured not only through learning or preparedness
but also through fun, fellowship, and care. We look forward to more opportunities to
connect, including upcoming Purim festivities and other gatherings throughout the year.
My own journey with Israel—from my first trip at age ten to later experiences as a college
student and now with in-laws and family visits for many years—reminds me of the power of
connection across time, place, and family. That sense of Kulanu, shared responsibility and
belonging, is reflected every day at Beth El. Here, our traditions, our families, and our
communal care create a space where hope is possible, even amidst difficulty.
As we move through January and February, we encourage everyone to continue
participating in our shared life. Together, we carry forward the light of our community. In
every act of presence, care, or celebration, we nurture our values, strengthen our bonds,
and find reason for hope, connection, and joy. Even when questions remain and the world
feels heavy, we are never alone.
Yachad itchem — Together with you
