Bat Mitzvah Kaitlyn Wahnish

Kaitlyn will be called to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, October 19th.  Kaitlyn is the daughter of John & Julie Wahnish, granddaughter of Alfred Wahnish & Ilene Stone and Carlos & Angeli Castro, sister of Max Wahnish.

Kaitlyn is an incoming freshman at AITE Highschool (Academy Institute of Technology and Engineering) in Stamford.  She enjoys playing the piano, viola, soccer, drawing and listening to music.

For her Mitzvah Project, Kaitlyn is working with Dignity Grows.  Dignity Grows’ goal is to provide girls, women, and all menstruators with the human dignity that comes from having their most basic personal hygiene needs met, one month at a time.  According to Dignity Grows website, the latest studies indicate over one-third of Americans who menstruate cannot afford monthly period products and hygiene necessities, resulting in chronic school absenteeism, un- and under-employment, and potentially critical medical issues. This often-unspoken public health crisis can have debilitating effects on the individual, their household and the community.

If anyone wants to contribute to this project, you can send us your donation via Venmo: @Julie-W-4.

The Wahnish family would like to thank Rabbi Paskind, Bracha Moshe and Morah Rhonda Ginsberg for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this whole process.

The whole congregation is invited to join the Kiddush following the services.
