SUMMARY:Pride in the Park 2025!
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to once again be participating in Norwalk’s Pride in the Park\, Saturday\, June 14. We will have a booth again this year from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and are looking for volunteers to work shifts to spread love and Judaism to our local Norwalk and LGBTQ community. If you want to help\, reach out to David at David@CongBethEl.org. \nPride in the Park is from noon to 8pm at Veterans Park in Norwalk. One of our goals is to offer “free hugs from Jewish parents” for those people who might not have loving accepting parents.

SUMMARY:It's a Magical Pride Shabbat
DESCRIPTION:Our Pride month celebration continues as we welcome Liz Toonkel and her Magic for Animals show. \nLiz Toonkel is a queer Jewish female magician and performance artist who combines sleight of hand magic with storytelling\, comedy and animal activism. She has performed across the globe including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, Aarhaus Festuge in Denmark\, The Elysian Theater\, headlined the Chicago Magic Lounge and at the 2024 Hollywood Fringe Festival where her one woman show “Magic For Animals” was a Finalist for The Splash Award\, The Soaring Solo Social Impact Award\, Best Cabaret & Variety act and the winner of Best Costume Design. \nWhen she’s not performing magic\, Liz is a production designer whose credits \ninclude the Oscar nominated animated feature “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On”\, for which her work was nominated for an Art Director’s Guild award\, and “Emily the Criminal” starring Aubrey Plaza. Liz was the first time recipient of the Calarts Distinguished Young Alumnx of the Year Award in 2023 for her outstanding work across the arts. She is a magician member of the Academy of Magical Arts.
