SUMMARY:Social Action Social Justice Evening
DESCRIPTION:Join the CBE Social Action Committee for a social justice evening with the screening of the movie Ruby Bridges. Ruby Bridges(1998) tells the story of how a six-year-old Black girl integrated a New Orleans segregated school in 1960. Of course\, Ruby did not achieve this feat alone– there was the NAACP that chose her; four US Marshals who kept back the angry mob of haters bent on lynching her; a kind-hearted White teacher who pushed back against her racist superiors; a famous psychiatrist to help her with the stress; and\, most of all\, her courageous mother\, who shared the deep faith that gave the girl the strength to persist. We are asking for a suggested donation of $10 per person to be given to The Carver in Norwalk. \nThe evening will begin at 6:45 pm with a short Havdalah service followed by the movie at 7 pm.  There will be a movie discussion after the movie.  Snacks and dessert will be served. \nRegister here by Wednesday\, February 7.

DESCRIPTION:Tot Shabbat will meet monthly on Shabbat mornings. Beth El welcomes all families and their young children (through 4th grade) to attend Tot Shabbat services. Led by CBE member Sharon Kesselman\, these monthly experiences include a special snack\, songs\, prayers\, and dancing as we celebrate Shabbat and make new friends while learning a little Hebrew and all about Shabbat.
